Named after Mayor Don Umerley, the Civic Center operates as the Rocky River Recreation Center, boasting two full basketball courts, a suspended indoor jogging track, fitness center, indoor aquatic facility, three group fitness studios and child play spaces.
Memberships are available on a six-month or annual basis with a variety of categories based on eligibility. Our enthusiastic team is excited to show you around whether it’s your first time in a fitness facility or you’re a lifetime user! Come see us!

Memorial Hall is located in the northeast wing of the Don Umerley Civic Center and is managed and supervised by the Office of Public Buildings.
With three rooms of varying sizes available - Memorial Hall, The Community Room, and The Club Room- Memorial Hall can handle the smallest staff meeting or the largest family affair. All three rooms are accessible at ground level with no stairs or ramps and ample free parking is available.
Located in the main lobby, the Veterans Memorial area features a place for reflection on those who have given the ultimate sacrifice serving our Nation. The Mural, painted by Glen Shaw, was donated to the City of Rocky River by the Rocky River War Memorial Association in 1954.

Hamilton Ice Arena is a year-round facility that houses the Rocky River Recreation hockey and skating programs and is open throughout the cooler months for informal open skates.
In the spring, the facility transforms from a sheet of ice to a multipurpose sports and camps facility that is home of the department’s summer youth camp program and a variety of sports programs.
“The Rink” is also home of the Recreation Department Administrative Offices and open weekdays from 8:30a-4:30p.

Like a resort in your own backyard, “WaterZone” is open to Rocky River residents and their guests all summer long. Offering everything from informal swimming to competition swim meets, our outdoor aquatic center is the best place to be on a hot Northeast Ohio summer day.
Season pool passes are available for residents and day passes can also be bought at the gate.
Our certified lifeguards will make sure you stay safe while you enjoy the sun!

The City of Rocky River has a variety of spaces and locations to host any event! Options are nearly limitless but availability is limited and open first to our residents followed by visitors to our community.
Outdoor spaces, the woodland feel of Elmwood Cabin, or a formal event in the Civic Center. We can certainly find a space to make your event or party the talk of the town!
