Rocky River Updates

Storm Update - Monday, August 12th - 4:35pm

Rich Snyder

First Energy crews are making significant progress. There is a significant temporary outage in the Yacht Club basin that has multiple homes out while an additional repair is made. Power is expected to be restored by 6pm to that area.

Refuse collection will continue on typical schedule for the remainder of the week. The Transfer Station will remain open until 7pm through Tuesday and we plan to open it from 8am-3pm on Wednesday.

Our Parks Division team is still clearing downed trees in and around the right-of-way. Once we have made additional progress in this regard we can begin to have our arborists out to assist residents with guidance pertaining to private trees. We will need patience in this regard. Please report any risks to private property or public safety related to trees to the Director of Public Safety-Service, Rich Snyder, via email to rsnyder@rrcity.com.

Crews are continuing 12-hour shifts through Tuesday for storm clean-up and we will evaluate whether extended shifts are still necessary beyond that day.

The Don Umerley Civic Center and Memorial Hall are still available as charging and cooling stations today, and the lobby locker rooms are available during normal business hours if you need a shower.

There are still a significant number of low or downed communication lines. Please assist us in the repair and removal by contacting your providers if you have these lines in disrepair to your property.

We will continue to be available for service related issues as they arise. If you need assistance from the Service Department, please call 440-356-5630. With other assistance related questions, please contact the non-emergency Police line at 440-331-1234. If it is an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

Please continue to contact First Energy with power related questions and visit https://outages-oh.firstenergycorp.com/ for updates. You may also call 1-888-544-4877 or text STAT to 544487.

This terrible storm was devastating not only to homeowners, but to business owners also. As we all begin to dig out and power is restored, please consider visiting the shops of our local business owners and share the kindness that many of you demonstrated to your neighbors. This community has shown incredible kindness and the smallest purchase may be very significant to our small businesses, many of whom are our neighbors.
